MARIE EMELINE GILLESPIE 1918 - 2008 Peacefully on November 21, 2008 at the Concordia Place Personal Care Home, Marie Gillespie passed away at the age of 90 years. Marie was born in Dominion City, MB on July 30, 1918, the youngest of seven children to Ann and Duncan Gillespie. The last of a generation, Marie was predeceased by her parents and brothers, John, Robert, Wilfred, Donald and her sisters, Alma and Edith. A long-time resident of St. Vital, Marie worked at Athlete's Wear, Ogilvie Oats, IBM and retired from the City of Winnipeg in 1983. Marie leaves a legacy of caring for family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and family friend Don. To honour Marie's wishes, a viewing will be held for family and friends on Friday, November 28 at 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street. Sr. Rose Desrochers S.N.J.M. officiating. Interment will follow at St. Vital Cemetery. Pallbearers are Don Lawrence, Rick Klimack, Mark Mazur and great-nephews, Mark, Brent and Luke Mazur. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents of Concordia Place for their care and friendship. Marie had a special fondness for dogs and throughout her life gave care and love to many faithful companions.
