WILLIAM (BILL) JAMES EISLER With sadness we announce the passing of Bill Eisler, born January 25, 1924, died on November 24, 2008 at the age of 84. With little complaint he bore the burden of his cancer until he got so tired and couldn't hang on any longer. Bill will be profoundly missed by his wife, Marion, and his six children, Diane Eisler, Barb Pasaur (Wally), Beverly TerHorst (Bob), Donna Stewart, Margaret Eisler (Doug Grant), John Eisler and by his grandchildren, Johnathan and Jessica TerHorst and Kathleen Pasaur (daughter Jenova). Predeceased by parents Harold and Isabelle, sisters Iris and Joyce, brothers Doug and Bob, Bill is survived by his sister June May as well as sister-in-law Joyce Eisler and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Bill served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 1945 as a Leading Aircraftman and tells a few truly amazing stories from his time at war. In 1947 while working at the Rainbow Café he met and in 1949 married, Marion Jean Hodgins, and they started their family. Bill and Marion built the cabin in the 1960s at Lester Beach at a time when money was tight. He scrounged and tore down old houses to build a cabin for his family and taught his kids to water ski and cross country ski. Many friendships were forged in the early years at Lester Beach that have continued to this day. A favourite memory of growing up was of him getting us all up on a chilly morning and running into the lake for a morning swim. When he retired his love of the lake found him living there and he became involved in the Victoria Beach Seniors Centre. Bill developed an interest in the arts and explored painting, woodworking, stained glass, cooking and music. He learned how to play the guitar late in life and never stopped learning and teaching. Wherever Dad is, he is doing something . A unique individual who made a darn good pot of soup. A private family service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2008. Due to the illness of our mother, Marion, we will wait and hold a celebration of Dad's life in the spring at the lake. The family would like to thank Maples Personal Care Home staff for their care and compassion the last two years. The family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba nurses, Dr. Johnston and Erin for their kindness and dedication. If you wish, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Dad was a motivator, very creative in Arts and Crafts, Stainglass, Plates, Paintings and Carvings! The Witiller, nicknamed young, my Mother Marion Jean Hodgins Eisler, who said your father never found a piece of wood that he didn't like! He was the Governor of the District of Alexander. Survived by his five daughters Diane, the oldest, Barb and Bev, twins, Donna and Marg the youngest and me John Alexander Eisler. He always wanted the best for me like piano lessons, Royal Conservatory of Music, I just wanted Street Hockey, but he was a motivator and my sister's would agree very resourceful, arranging weddings and really caring about family and friends. Loved forever my Dad, he's missed and remembered in his arts and crafts. - Posted by: John Eisler (Dad) on: Oct 17, 2020

So sorry to hear the news. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I was just in to see him last week. My mind is full of happy times spent with him. He will be missed, Bill was always there when I needed help with what ever. The many golf games were great. He always loved to have a good time and to help someone in need. That was Bill. - Posted by: Edward Swart (Friend) on: Nov 25, 2008
