MICHAEL WALLACK February 24, 1928 - November 24, 2008 With heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather at the Percy E. Moore Hospital. Forever cherishing his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years, Therese; children, Delbert of Surrey, BC, Donna (Clayton) of Fisher Branch, MB, Gerald (Elizabeth) of Virden, Cindy (Shane) of Winnipeg, Barry (Rachelle) of Broad Valley, MB, Robin (Ken) of Winnipeg; his grandchildren, Devin (Ina), Starlette (Cory), Jennifer (Jeff), Krystal, Melissa, Alisha, Justin, Taylor, Sydney and Shaelyn; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Blaise, Rylee, Tyler, Courtney, Neil, Cory, Aaron and Braeden; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Wallack and Kay Wallack; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Kazmir and Teenie Wallack; sisters, Jennie Sobyski, Mary Gushelak, Anne Barrett, Kay Ruchka and Rosie Kudelski; brothers, Stanley and Nick; and one granddaughter Cynthia. Dad was born on February 24, 1928 on the family farm in Fisher Branch. He attended Bartlette School, finishing Grade VIII. There was no high school available at that time. Dad then worked on the family farm. Mom and dad met at a school picnic in Fisher Branch in 1948. They were married on November 7, 1950 and then moved to Mackenzie Island, ON, where dad had a job working in the gold mines. Mom and dad spent the winter in Ontario and in the spring moved back to Fisher Branch. It was here that they raised their six children. During this time dad was employed by Labatts as a waiter and bartender, for many years. On January 18, 1967 the Interlake Motor Hotel was built and the new owners, Cubby Barrett and Rene Rivard hired dad as their manager where he remained until his retirement. After retiring from the Hospitality Industry dad's path changed and took him back to working on the farm for Cubby Barrett. He spent many happy years working part-time operating farm equipment until his health forced him to quit. Dad enjoyed hunting with the boys, fishing, curling, snowmobiling, triking, playing cards and bingo. Very special to dad were the summers he spent at Watchorn Beach with his family. He loved being at the lake and spent every summer there until 2007 when he became ill. Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home, E.M. Crowe Hospital in Eriksdale, the Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson and the home care workers in Fisher Branch for the wonderful care given to dad. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. At dad's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch. Dad Just as you were You will always stay, Loved and remembered every day, Your presence we'll miss, Your memory we'll treasure, Loving you always, Forgetting you never. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. Fisher Funeral Home Inc. In care of arrangements. Fisher Branch, MB (204) 372-6271 or 372-6803
