Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN GLADYS JOHNSON (nee CONROD) October 3, 1930 November 25, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Kathleen on November 25, 2008 at the Arborg and District Health Centre. Kathleen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sigurjon Johnson, and by her sister Barbara and brother John. She will be greatly missed by her children Neil (Christine), Eric (Michelle) and Inga (Jeff); by her grandchildren, Craig, Kyle, Tanis, Erin, Kevin, Shelby, Sean, Tanner, and Shane; and by her sisters, Heather and Sharon (George); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Kathleen was raised in Douglas, Manitoba and enjoyed telling stories of her early life on the prairie. She moved to Winnipeg where she completed high school and then trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Early in her career, she moved to Arborg and began working in the hospital in 1950. Kathleen continued nursing at the hospital and personal care home until her retirement. Kathleen cared deeply about her family. She met Sigurjon in Arborg and they were married in 1953. They shared 41 years until his passing in 1994. She loved her visits with her grandchildren and kept toys for them in the garage' so they could play together. She enjoyed the annual Camp Morton week, and the many birthday parties and family get-togethers we shared. She loved to read and do cross-word puzzles as well as knit afghans and scarves for her family. She was independent, practical and caring. Special thanks to the staff of the Arborg and District Health Centre for their care and compassion during Mom's illness. A funeral service will be held at Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church on Monday, December 1, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Bruce Zinken officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Arborg, MB. MacKenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
