DOROTHY (STEIN) OBERMAN (DOT DOBIE) December 14, 1925 - September 11, 2008 With friends and family at her side, after a stroke, Dorothy died at the Sharon Home in Winnipeg, where she had lived for the past year. She is survived by her sister Lily Freedman, her grandchildren, Adam, Mira and Jesse, her daughter-in-law Lisa Dveris and by Lee Anne Block, mother of Adam and Mira. She was predeceased by her husband Allan Oberman in 1995 and her son Sheldon Oberman in 2004. Dot contributed to the lives of others through her work as a psychic reader. After retiring from business in her fifties, she devoted herself to this new career, bringing to it her intelligence, intuition and energy. She touched the lives of many and was happy to recount both the matches she fostered and the criminals she helped to catch. Despite the losses and ill-health of her later years, Dot was resilient. She kept in contact with her friends and continued to make new friends of all ages. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. After the loss of her son, her grandchildren were supportive and attentive to her care and she valued all their accomplishments as she had valued his. Dot found and shared the joy in life. Funeral service was held at the Chesed Shel Emes on September 11, 2008. Pallbearers were Ron Baleja, Sharon Irvine, Pablo Gomez and her three grandchildren. The grandchildren wish to warmly express their gratitude toward Dorothy's caregivers, Dallen Coates, Madeline Field, and Monica Lawrence, and the staff of the Sharon Home.
