WINNIFRED MARY TRUELOVE October 12, 1910 November 25, 2008 On November 25, 2008 Winnie Truelove passed away at the tender young age of 98. She leaves to cherish her memory Ernest (Edith) Woodward, Colin (Verna) Fraser, Doreen Fraser (Bob Hunter). Her memory will also be cherished by her many relatives and friends on both sides of the pond. Winnie was born in Sheffield, England to Joseph William Truelove and Catherine Eliza (nee Collier), the youngest of five, Blanche (Joe Woodward), Hilda (Delmar Fraser), Joseph (Gertrude) and Mable. Winnie started as a courier between the many factories, later she worked in the food services at Woolworths in Sheffield. Auntie Winnie (as she was known to most) later came to Canada on the Queen Mary in 1947 via New York with Mabel (many stories on that adventure). In Canada, Winnie worked for a few months at the St. Regis Hotel as a chambermaid and then at Eaton's downtown in the Char Bar till her retirement, developing many friendships (and stories) that lasted a lifetime. Winnie dazzled us with her spunk and feistiness. Independent to the end, she insisted on doing her own thing always. (She was always a no fuss no muss kind of person). Winnie's passion was to travel and she did so every year including this year. She went back home every year and enjoyed many adventures with our Sue (John), Pat (Brian), Diane (Ken) and families. Her memory was incredible, she could remember names, dates, places and anecdotes about everyone. She had many stories. She was a Yorkshire lass to the last. As per Winnie's wishes, cremation has taken place with no funeral service. She will go home and be interred into the family plot at City Road Cemetery in Sheffield, England. Flowers are respectfully declined. A donation in her memory can be made CancerCare Manitoba 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9 or a charity of your choice.
