EVELYN ELIZABETH MURRAY (FLETT nee ORVIS) May 14, 1907 - November 13, 2008 Peacefully on November 13, 2008, Evelyn Elizabeth Murray aged 102 years went to be with her Lord. She resided at the Maples Care Home for the past three years. She is survived by her son, Alvin (Dorothy), also 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three children, Dorothy, Douglas and Kenneth; her parents; three sisters and a brother. She will be sadly missed by her compassionate, caring and faithful friend Dolly. Evelyn really appreciated the visits she received from her grandchildren over the years. During her lifetime she accomplished many things like the numerous jobs she fulfilled including cooking for the CNR gangs, making shells in Winnipeg until the war ended and then working for the Narcotic Foundation in Vancouver, BC. She spent many years cooking at Bible Camps in BC and MB. She cared for her ailing parents in Penticton and after their passing she moved back to Selkirk, MB in 1978. She did a lot of babysitting and caring for people in Selkirk. She was a seamstress, quilter, knitter and crochet. Many people in Canada and many missionaries around the world received gifts she had made. She supported many missions and missionaries. She was a caring, thoughtful, gracious and loving woman who made God the centre of her life and continued to live for Him until He called her home. Special thanks to the staff at the Maples Care Home for their kindness and care to this dear lady. Per Evelyn's wishes a graveside service will be held on May 18, 2009. Further details will follow closer to the date of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Bible Camp, 795 Valour Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R3G 3B3. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
