SONYA HALLAS February 20, 1914 - November 20, 2008 With great sadness we announce that Sonya passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, in Victoria, BC. Predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1998, she is survived by her daughters, Pamela and Bonnie, son-in-law John and granddaughter Jess. Sonya was born in Rosa, Manitoba. She taught school in rural Manitoba for 12 years before moving to Winnipeg in 1946 with her husband. In 1980, Sonya and Joseph moved to Victoria to be closer to their daughters. Sonya was greatly devoted to her family. She loved music and singing, was a great cook, and was active in the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Churches in Winnipeg and Victoria. Sonya had a loving and caring nature, and an independent spirit which she retained until her death. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by those whose lives she touched.
