Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS URBANOWICH Peacefully on November 27, 2008 Nicholas Urbanowich passed away. He was predeceased by his siblings Mike, Bill, Anne, Tony, Ruth and Pauline. He leaves to mourn his sister Mary (Steve) Stefnik, his six children Richard, Gerry (Lorena), Randy (Janine), Gil, Linda (Russ), Jason and their mother Beverly as well as his ten grandchildren Matthew, Jillian, Allyson, Brady, Janessa, Eric, Leia, Brody, Gabriel and Alexandra. Nick was born in Fisher Branch on March the 10, 1924. He stayed on the family farm to help out while two brothers left for war. He worked on the DEW Line in the early 1950s until he moved to Winnipeg in 1956 and started his 33 year long career with Western Messenger. In 1960 he bought a house on Arnold Avenue and married in 1961. In May of 1962 Nick and Bev started their family of five sons and one daughter in their 1½ storey house where many cherished memories took place. Nick worked hard all his life self taught himself to drive and play musical instruments such as piano, the accordion, the violin and the guitar. In the fall on 2003 he moved into the care of the wonderful nurses and aides of the Charleswood Care Centre where he would reside for the next five years. A very special THANK YOU! to all the employees and volunteers at the Care Centre, as well as the doctors, nurses, aides, and pastoral care at the Grace Hospital. Your compassion is greatly appreciated. Come unto me All ye that labor And are heavy laden and I will give you rest -Matthew 11:28 A funeral service will be held on Thursday December 4 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
