GILBERT RIGAUX On Saturday, November 29, 2008, Gilbert Rigaux passed away peacefully in the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 94 years. Gilbert will be fondly remembered by his son Raymond (Jean) of Chatham, Ontario, daughter Janice (Casey) Zonneveld of Portage la Prairie and son Ken (Donna) of Winnipeg; his eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Magdelina Hutlet of Winnipeg, Justine Kitto of Treherne and sisters-in-law, Alice Van Deynze of Somerset and Maire Rigaux of Cypress River. Gilbert was predeceased by his wife Jeanne in 1990; brothers, Omar, Albert, Robert, Hubert and by sisters, Angeline Van Den Bossche and Germaine Delichte. Gilbert was born in Cypress River on December 8, 1913. He married Jeanne Devos in 1940 and they farmed in the Cypress River District until 1960 when they relocated to Winnipeg. Gilbert enjoyed his second career as the Maintenance Supervisor at the Huron and Erie Building from 1961 to 1982. In 1983, Gilbert and Jeanne moved to Portage la Prairie where they enjoyed their retirement years. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. L. Antonissen and the nursing staff at the Portage District General Hospital, as well as the staff of the Lions Prairie Manor for their kindness and care. Rosary prayers will be offered at the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Saskatchewan Ave. E., on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Celebrant Eric Giddins.
