JOAN BARBARA GABLE (FLEMING nee WARDEN) August 8, 1923 November 26, 2008 Peacefully while napping, Mom passed away at the home of her daughter in Highland Glen, MB. Joan lived in Petersfield as a child, moving to a family run store on Bannatyne Ave. in Winnipeg (Warden's Grocery), during her early teens. She worked at the Fort Garry Hotel as a banquet waitress, a favourite of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Mom was a strong, independent person who dwelled in her home in Winnipeg Beach until July of this year, when failing health made it no longer possible. She was predeceased by first husband Lawrence Fleming; second husband Robert Gable; granddaughter Heather Louise Shone; father and mother Vincent and Daisy Warden and brother Bill. Mom leaves to mourn her four children, Terry Fleming (Sandra), Laurine Shone (Larry), Danelle Reid (Stephen), Richard Fleming (Joanne); 11 grandchildren, Kristen, Kirk, Emile, Patrick, Richard, Meagan, Miles, Erin, Tannis, Keith and Kyle; eight great- grandchildren, Dillon, Gabriella, Jared, Niall, Zachary, Jessica, Elsie and Abby. Thanks to Homecare Eva and Cheryl for their exemplary care of mom at the home of her daughter in Highland Glen and to Homecare Mady who sat with mom until she was safe in the arms of the Lord. A memorial service will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Selkirk, on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Anton Bouw officiating. As per her wishes she was cremated and a private family interment at Dunara United Church Cemetery to take place at a later date. Donations can be made, if desired, to the Children's Wish Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
