KATHERINE (KAY) MELNYK November 8, 1917- December 1, 2008 Peacefully, on December 1, 2008 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Kay Melnyk, beloved wife of the late Alex Melnyk. Kay leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Judy and husband Ed Nickerson of Burlington, ON; son Jim of Winnipeg; brother-in-law, John Melnyk (Irene); numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Alex; brothers, Met, Joe, and Bill; sisters, Min and Anne. Before her marriage, Kay worked as a model for a Winnipeg Furrier and then as a chef at a private home. She later became a stay at home mom, while assisting Alex in his limousine and taxi business until they retired. Her great loves were her family, her garden, cooking and books. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 5 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery.
