KENNETH WAYNE SOCHASKY It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ken on November 29, 2008 at the age of 48 years. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley, his mother Frances, sisters Corinne (Bill) Balaban and Debbie (Don) and nephew Josh Sochasky, his father and mother-in-law Bill and Martha Koblansky, sister-in-law Diane; many aunts, uncles, cousins, special Godchild Jena West as well as many treasured friends too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his father Frank in 1997. Ken was born July 1, 1960 in Winnipeg. He spent his childhood growing up in Transcona and moved to Anola at the age of 14 and completed his education in Oakbank, graduating from Springfield Collegiate. He started his working career at CPR and spent the last 29 years at CN as a pipe fitter and heavy duty mechanic. Ken and Shirley were married in June, 1985 and started their life together in Anola, moving to Oakbank in 1995. Although they never had children, they adored their precious Yellow Lab, Shay. Shay, being boss of the house, kept them active for 11 years. He loved going on many road trips with his friends on his Honda Goldwing 1800, which was his ultimate escape. He had a passion for the outdoors, including fishing, hunting and quadding which lead to the building of The Man Fort in Woodridge which was his dream. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oakbank Baptist Church in Oakbank, Manitoba with Rev. Dawn Ballentine-Dickson officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the numerous friends who have in many ways provided endless support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3
