JOYCE LEOLA CHAN (nee LOUIE) January 10, 1917 December 1, 2008 After living a wonderful life, Joyce left us to be with her Lord. Cherishing her memory are her husband of 64 years, Herby; her son Elliot (Denise); her daughter Kim (Doug); her grandsons Julian (Amber), Dave and Mike and great-grandsons Randy-Joseph and Julez Taylor. Mom also has many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews who will miss her. Family was precious to our Mom and we know that this included her St. Stephen's Anglican family, her Helmsdale neighbours, her long time friend Donna Bittner, the Army Band friends, the Masonic Temple friends, the Dorothy Lake friends and most recently the wonderful residents and staff at Kildonan House. Those that have passed on ahead of Mom are her parents Olga and Charles Louie; her infant sister Vivian; her dear cousins Fern Horne and Elsie Jackshaw; and her good friend Grace Kuhney. Mom was born in Winnipeg and attended Argyle School. She married her life partner Herby on March 24, 1944. Mom and Dad knew the secret to a successful marriage and were devoted to each other. Mom doted on and supported her grandsons and celebrated each milestone they achieved. Whether it was knitting, sewing, cooking, baking for her family, working on the church newsletter, or enjoying coffee and a treat at Tim's, Mom lived life to the fullest. A celebration of Mom's life will be held at St. Stephens Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave. on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, a donation to St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave. or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst would be what Mom would have liked. Mom, you were much loved and gave us love and inspiration in your daily life. If there are dogs in heaven, you are with your Zhen Zhen now.
