Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS FRANCIS HOPPER Passed away peacefully Monday, December 1, 2008 at Nanaimo District General Hospital. Born Halifax, Nova Scotia, October 19, 1933. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Stella Hopper; sisters, Catherine and Evelyn; and brothers, Ken, Tom, Jim and Charlie. He is survived by Jean, his wife of 52 years; sons, Michael (Yvonne) of Oak Bluff, Manitoba, Peter (Maria) of Victoria, British Columbia, Patrick (Dianne) of Winnipeg, much beloved grandsons, Connor and Kegan of Oak Bluff; sisters, Rita During, Jean Dickinson, Irene Boutilier all of Halifax, Lillian Eden (John) of Trenton, Ontario, Betty Lou Hamilton (Bob) of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Hopper of Barrie, Ontario, Ramona Hopper of Edmonton, Alberta and numerous nephews and nieces. Lou joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in 1950 and had a 30-year career in the army serving in various parts of Canada, Middle East, and Germany retiring from the Armed Forces in Winnipeg in 1979, although he continued as a member of the Signallers Club of Canada. In 1996 he and Jean moved to Nanaimo, British Columbia to continue with their retirement without the winter snows. Cremation has taken place and at Lou's request, there will be no service.
