Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN SCHELLENBERG July 1, 1931 - November 19, 2008 Died peacefully, on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC, after a brief illness. John was born in Grunthal, MB, on July 1, 1931. Upon completion of high school, he came to Winnipeg and took further training in Accounting. He held various positions in this field, beginning his career with the Dominion Bank Stockyard Branch in 1950, and ending it upon retirement from the Winnipeg Flying Club in 1990. John was past Master, Prince Rupert's Lodge #1 AM FM, a 32nd Degree Mason Scottish Rite, Valley of Winnipeg and a member of Khartum Temple. In 1961 John married Ona Olynyk. Both liked to travel, visiting Great Britain, France and much of the southern USA. After retirement they purchased a trailer house at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pharr, Texas and spent the winters golfing with their many Canadian and American friends. In 2004 they moved to South Surrey, BC. John is survived by his wife Ona; sisters and brothers, Helen Loewen, of Calgary, Arthur (Eleanor), of Chilliwack, BC, Edwin (Nellie) and Linda (Arno) Weiss, of Winnipeg; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Tina; brother-in-law George Loewen; nephews, Edwin Weiss and Jeffrey Schellenberg. Cremation has taken place. No service by request. In lieu of flowers or donations, John requested you spend some quality time with your loved ones. On never knows what tomorrow will bring.
