NORMAN CHARLES MIDDLETON February 12, 1917 - December 1, 2008 Peacefully, after a brief battle with cancer, Norman passed away on Monday, December 1, 2008, in his sleep at home in his 92nd year. Norman will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years of marriage Joy (nee Boyd); his children John and Robert (Lori); grandchildren, John and Jamie, Keely, Kody, Kyla, Kaelyn and Keira; brother Harold (Bernie); brotherinlaw Jerry and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father William; mother Margaret; and sister Grace. Born on the farm in Deerwood, MB Norman grew up on Marjorie Street in St. James. Summers were spent on the farm where a tenacious work ethic was instilled which he applied all through his life. Music and the piano were a big part of his life, playing with Jimmy King in his trio. He met Joy while working at the Grain Exchange and married March 27, 1943. Norman served his country in the Second World War as a Flight Sargent in the III (F) Squadron Thunderbirds and was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. He worked at Marshall Wells for 25 years in accounting then for the Manitoba Development Corporation and Archibald Brokerage. Norman always had things figured out and balanced. He loved his golf and curling and never lost his fascination with flight and space travel. A dedicated husband, father and grandfather! Gramp's taxi was always there as well shuttle service for John and Robert. The cabin at West Hawk Lake was a special place for him for many years. He loved to putter around, swim and enjoy nature. A celebration of Norman's life will be held on Tuesday, December 9 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. Thanks to the staff at Palliative Care, Home Care and Health Sciences Centre for their care. The shuttle landed right on the mark Dad, you have done the same in our hearts. Love Always. Rest in Peace.
