LOUIS (LOU) VOLDYMIR KULCHYCKI Lou passed away on December 5, 2008 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret of 54 years, his two sons Terry (Marilyn), Jeff (Michelle) and his daughter Michele (Gilles); six precious grandchildren whom he loved, Evan and Lisa Kulchycki, Eric and Bradley Kulchycki, Andrew and Matthew Ritchot; four sisters, Mary Tennant, Margaret Waters, Sophie Ingles, Elsie Hannaford and four brothers, Adam, Bohdan, Alex (Pat) and Harry. He was predeceased by his parents William and Joanna Kulchycki of Minnedosa, Manitoba. Lou was born in Strathclair, Manitoba. He attended Strathclair Collegiate and moved to Winnipeg to further his education and career in accounting, sales and administration. Lou was employed by Marshall Wells Hardware for 18 years in various capacities where he enjoyed his many friends. He left the company as a District Retail Manager. He was immediately employed with Firestone Tire Rubber Company for 13 years and retired in 1982 as a Regional Manager for Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He participated in many sports, his favourites being curling, golfing and fishing. In particular he enjoyed hunting with his brothers. Lou was one of the founding members of the Rossmere Golf and Country Club and enjoyed the many years of golfing and curling with his many friends. He was a founding and honorary member of the Frontier Wildlife Association. He was active at the Refit Centre for over twenty-five years and was a lifetime member. Lou and Margaret's cottage at Silver Harbour, Manitoba was a home away from home. He enjoyed the company of family and friends in the many activities including barbeques, corn roasts, swimming and games. He particularly enjoyed playing golf with his family, grandchildren and friends. During the past several years Lou and Margaret spent their winters in Osoyoos, B.C. the desert of Canada, playing golf with his many new friends. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and visited the Ukraine with his sister Sophie to meet his cousins and find the birthplace of his father. He published several family tree books, one consisting of over twenty eight hundred names, and leaves his legacy to the children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and all his relatives living in various parts of the world. The family would like to thank the doctors at CancerCare Manitoba and nurses Jennifer and Gayle. Also special thanks to the staff in the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, 1 Green Acres Lane, Hwy. #1 East. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
