RICHARD RONALD CRUISE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Ronald Cruise on December 4, 2008, with his family by his side, after a brief illness. Remaining to forever cherish Ron's memory are his loving wife, Eveline (Plaitin, Cnudde); children, Don (Norma Chalmers) Cnudde, Tracy (Scott Daal) Cruise, Allyson (Bernie) Cruise-Scarpino and Larry (Roberta Sveinson) Cruise; five grandchildren, Tori and Kelsey Cnudde, Joseph and Nicholas Scarpino and Stephanie Biggs; brother, Bob (Grace) in California and sister Betty MacDonald and their families; brothers in law, Ray (Sharon) Plaitin and Florimond (Marilyn) Plaitin; sister in law, Adeline (Larry) Van Cauwenberghe and families. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Wilma Cruise and by special friend, Lenore Beech. Ron was born on August 6, 1930 in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. He spent his working life at J.I. Case Co., Construction Equipment Co. and Points West Marketing. He was a great sportsman and played hockey with the Pilot Mound Pilots from 1947 to 1961 in the S.E.M.H.L. and the Big Six League. Ron was also a horse enthusiast and followed the Standard Bred circuit throughout Manitoba. He took up golf late in life and in his retirement years enjoyed many rounds with his buddies at Scottswood Links. He enjoyed his family, friends, music and a good book. We will miss him greatly. Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave., the Rev. Janet Walker officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 12 in Pilot Mound. In lieu of flowers, and in gratitude to the staff at Victoria General Hospital, donations in Ron's memory may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg or to a charity of choice.
