Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETSY) VAN DER GRAAF Elizabeth (Betsy) Anne Van der Graaf, aged 69, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2008 after a brave battle with cancer. Betsy was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Isabel Dicks of Dauphin. Betsy's memory will be cherished by her beloved husband, Fred; daughters, Tricia (Bob), Laurie (Joe); grand-children, Kelsey, Caitlin, Natalie and Antonio. She is also survived by her sister Eleanor (Alan); brother Dan and her lifelong best friend Maris. Family was very important to Betsy. She loved to keep up with the news of her extended family, especially all her nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the United States. Betsy was born and raised in Dauphin, MB and moved to Winnipeg as a young woman to attend Business School. While working at the Winnipeg Police Department she met and married Fred, her husband of 47 years. Betsy continued her career after having her two children. She worked for the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews, as well as the University of Winnipeg until her retirement two years ago. She loved working, reading and gardening. Her favourite activity was getting together with friends and family, especially her children and grand-children. The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital Oncology and particularly the staff at Riverview Health Centre 3E. A service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betsy's honour to The University of Winnipeg Foundation or the Shrine Hospital for Children, Transportation Fund, Khartum Temple, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A5.
