LUCY JANET MORRISON (nee CARPENTER) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lucy Janet Morrison, who passed away peacefully on December 7, 2008 at the age of 90. Those who knew Lucy will recall a loving and devoted wife and mother who gave all of herself to her family. She will forever be in the hearts of her children, Betty Somers (Murray) and Jim Morrison (Agnes); her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Marcia Doerksen (Jennifer), River, Austin and Emily; Amanda Whitford (Derek), Hayden and Riley; Kevin Somers (Diana); Michael Siwak, Alexie and Kayden; Shelley Tanchak (David) Morgan and Owen. Also brother John and sister Betty. Lucy was predeceased by her husband Cliff in 2000, daughter Shirley Siwak in 1993, parents James and Mary Carpenter, brothers Bill, Cornelius, Albert and sisters Mary and Kay. Lucy was born on February 3, 1918 in Winnipeg. She spent her early years at the family cottage in Grand Beach. She worked for Eaton's Department Store, Johnstons Nuts and Carter Motors. Lucy and Cliff married in 1947 and then began a beautiful family. Her favorite pasttimes consisted of camping with her family at Otter Falls. Lucy and Cliff loved fishing both summer and winter. She received Master Angler Awards and trophies for every species of fish found in Manitoba. Lucy also devoted many hours with the Women's Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. We would like to give a special thanks to the third floor staff of Concordia Nursing Home for their care and support over the past eight years. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., with interment and reception to follow.
