Date of Passing: Dec 07, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA BARYLUK Peacefully, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease, Eva passed away on December 7, 2008. She is survived by her children, Julia Baryluk (Rennie), Helen Burbank (Garin), John Paskievich (Marilyn), her four grandchildren, Justina, Paul, John and Andrew, her sister Anastasia and her family in Schenectady, New York and numerous relatives in Ukraine. Eva was born May 5, 1923 in selo Kamiana Hora, Zhovkivskyi raion, Ukraine. Like so many of her generation in that part of the world her early years were steeped in tragedy. She was orphaned as a child and with the outbreak of the Second World War she, while still a teenager, was forced to do slave labour in Germany. After the war ended she spent five years in a displaced persons camp in Austria where she met and married Paul Paskievich and gave birth to her son, John. In 1950 she and her family came to Canada where after a few years her daughter, Helen, was born. After the death of her husband Paul, Eva married Ted Baryluk and subsequently gave birth to another daughter, Julia. The time spent with Ted were the happiest years of her life. While raising their three children Eva and Ted operated Ted Baryluk's Grocery which became a fixture in the Point Douglas area of Winnipeg. Parastas, evening prayers, will be sung at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Father Len Ratushniak C.Ss.R. at 10:00 a.m., Friday December 12 at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Taras Babick and the staff and volunteers at Holy Family Nursing Home for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 302-171 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1M4. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
