FERNANDO DOS SANTOS PAVAO November 1, 1932 - December 8, 2008 Born in Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Açores, Fernando, passed away, at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Fernando will be lovingly remembered by his wife Belmira Borges Pavao; son John (Sally) Pavao; daughter Maria Pavao-Kirton (Scott); six grandchildren, Scott, Nicole, Chantel, Johnathan, Marco and Justin; siblings, Helena Aguiar, of Toronto; Arminda Miranda José, both of Portugal; sisters-in-law, Maria (Antonio) Gonçalo and Nelia (José) Cabral, both of Winnipeg and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care Ward and a special thanks to Alma, his palliative care nurse, for her compassionate care. Prayers will be said 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday December 11, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street North with Reverend Father José Eduardo Medeiros presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Pavao, Marco Tavares, Justin Tavares, Travis Kirton, Kevin Tavares and José Cabral. If friends so desire, donations can be made in memory of Fernando to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
