JACQUELINE THEADORA CAVETT (nee MIRON) Jacquie, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on December 7, 2008 at 78 years of age. She is survived by her husband Arnold, daughters, Teresa (Gary Goodwin) of Winnipeg, Mary Ellen of Ottawa, and grandchildren, David, Matthew and Sarah Cavett-Goodwin. She also leaves her sister Shirley and brother-in-law Keith Flanigan of Ottawa, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her newborn son David, her sister Dylite and brother-in-law William Pettit, and her parents, Florence and Theodore Miron. Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Jacquie went to school in Toronto and London, Ontario; after graduating from Teacher's College, she taught school in Kirkland Lake. She met Arn in Bagotville, Quebec, where he was stationed flying Sabre aircraft. Immediately after their marriage, Jacquie and Arn moved to Zweibrucken, Germany, compliments of the RCAF. Shortly after their arrival, the authorities learned that Jacquie was a qualified schoolteacher and asked her to establish and be principal of a school for the children of Canadian military families in Zweibrucken. Although the school kept her very busy, she nonetheless took every opportunity to travel and explore Europe. She also thoroughly enjoyed the several years that she and her family later spent in England and France. In Canada, she made her home for her family in Montreal, Saskatoon, Ottawa, Toronto and Winnipeg. In her later years, she and Arn became regular Winter Texans , where they happily spent their Manitoba winters in Corpus Christi. Together they enjoyed 56 years of married life. Jacquie had been in ill health for many years. Although this slowed her physically, she remained a dynamic participant in all family activities. She was proud of her daughters' many accomplishments, and took particular pleasure in watching her grandchildren grow. The family extends their gratitude to the many medical personnel who cared for Jacquie. They especially wish to thank Dr. R. Guzman and his medical team, Dr. M. Garcia and J. Mills from Palliative Care, as well as the wonderful staff on floor 4A South of the St. Boniface Hospital, who provided her with such tender care during her final illness. She will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford Street, Winnipeg, on Saturday, December 13 at 1:30 p.m. with Father McDougall officiating.
