STANLEY CHERNOWAS Peacefully, Stanley died November 29, 2008 in Vancouver, BC. He was born in Winnipegosis, Manitoba in 1931 and received his education in Winnipegosis. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Antonina and Stanley, brothers, Joseph and Thomas, and his sister Josephine. Left to cherish his memory are five sisters, Sr. Gabriel OSB of Winnipeg, Alice Zwarich of Calgary, Lillian (Peter) Boyko of Chicago, Sr. Angela OSB of Winnipeg, and Mary (Arnold) Groot Koerkamp of Winnipeg; also nieces, nephews, two aunts and cousins. Stan worked mostly in construction; first on the St. Lawrence Seaway and when that project completed, he moved to BC and worked there. He held a certificate as Hoisting Engineer and Mobile Crane Operator. When Stan retired he lived on Cortes Island for several years. He loved nature and enjoyed reading. Then he moved to Vancouver where he enjoyed tending his yard, flowers and a small garden. His favorite pastime was to drive daily to Stanley Park to feed God's small creatures As his health deteriorated, he resided at Adanac Park Lodge. The last two weeks of his life were spent in Burnaby Hospital. Stan's siblings wish to thank Earl Chernowas of Surrey, BC for journeying with Stan for the past few years. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will be held December 19, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Benedict's Monastery Chapel, Winnipeg. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg.
