WILLIAM (BILL) BEWS On Monday, December 8, 2008 Bill died peacefully with family by his side at Concordia Hospital. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Leonora in 1999 after 50 years of marriage. He leaves to mourn his passing his son Jim (Patti), grandchildren Jillian and Nikki, and great-grandson Evan; daughter Cindy (Bill) Brooks, grandchildren Jennifer (Dave) and Michael, great-grandchildren Alec, Katherine and Nicole of Surrey, B.C.; brother Alan (Eadie) Bews, sister-in-law Dorothy McColl, and longtime family friend Evelyn MacCready. Dad was born August 26, 1924 in Elmwood where he resided most of his life. In 1941 at age 17 he proudly joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served aboard the Cowichan, Moncton and Norsyd. After the war he joined the CNR in 1946 and retired in 1985. In his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with Jim and family at the cottage in Winnipeg Beach and Cindy and Family in Surrey, B.C. He especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the every second Tuesday Breakfast Club and once a month Wednesday CN Carmen's Retirement Club. The family would like to thank the staff of Ward N3E at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care at this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society of Canada, 100-1465 Buffalo Place, Wpg, MB R3T 1L8. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held Monday, December 15, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home.
