JOAO MARIA AMARAL February 9, 1942- December 9, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joao M. Amaral on December 9, 2008 at the Riverview Health Centre. Dad leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lourdes; his five children, Laudalina (Luis), John (Danielle), Elizabete ( Shaun), Louis (Shalon) and Debbie; nine grandchildren, Christian, Sabrina, Kayla, Jonathon, Brandon, Brooklyn, Easton, Ashton and Boston; brother Henrique ( Fernanda), brother-in-law Antonio (Maria da Paz), sister-in-law Isabel (Joao B.), many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and all the people he touched in his life. Dad was born in Ponta Garça, Sao Miguel. Azores, married the love of his life, Lourdes on September 9, 1967 and immigrated to Canada in 1971. Dad was best known for his many talents as a handyman, passion for gardening and his love for family and friends. Heartfelt thanks goes out to all of the health professionals who have given Dad care and support over the past few years, especially Dr. L. DaSilva, the Home Care staff, Palliative Care staff and the special team of angels on 3E at the River View Palliative unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Prayers will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will follow on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church located at 181 Austin Street.
