MARINO JONAS MIDFORD Peacefully, on December 17, 2008 Marino Jonas Midford (Boppy), aged 78, was called to the loving embrace of God. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by Lillian, his wife and best friend for 55 years; his children, Jo-Anne, Lorne (Susan) and Martin (Suzanne); and his seven grandchildren, Laura, Alana, Melanie, Sean, Evan, Alexandra and Jacqueline. Marino was predeceased by his lovely daughter Kristine and his four brothers, Chris, Gestur, Carl and Richard. Marino was born and raised in Selkirk. In his younger years he spent many winters, and had numerous adventures, commercial fishing on Lake Winnipeg. He spent the next 55 years in Bird's Hill where he built his home and raised his family. He was an avid reader and took keen interest in politics and current events. Marino was a man of integrity and a true gentleman and was respected for his honesty and fairness. After retiring from Winnipeg Hydro, Marino enjoyed travelling to South Padre Island, Texas and the surrounding area during the winter months. Marino had many interests, but was happiest when walking with Lillian on the trails in Bird's Hill Park. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Honouring Marino's final wishes, funeral services will be limited to immediate family.
