Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED VICTOR BERRY After a lengthy battle with poor health, Alfred Victor Berry passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 16, 2008 at the St. Boniface Hospital with his children at his side. Alf was born in Winnipeg on September 14, 1935. Alfie's family lived in Norwood where he attended school and spent his childhood. Later on in his mid 20's he moved to Thompson, Manitoba where he was employed with Dominion Bridge, also becoming a bailiff for the Town of Thompson. It was here that he met and married Rita Blouin. Mom and Dad stayed in Thompson until 1966 when they decided to move to Winnipeg. Dad then began a long and happy career at Bristol Aerospace as a stores supervisor until his retirement in 1993. He had a great sense of humor and made many a friend along his journey. Dad was a member of St. James Legion #4 where he and Mom spent many an evening playing bingo. Dad leaves to mourn his passing his wife Rita Juliette, children, Glen Berry, Dean (Leslie) Berry, Reynold (Janice) Laferriere, Donald (Kim) Laferriere and Diane (Michael) Keast. His sister Priscilla McClelland and grandchildren, Sherry Neufeld, Nicholas and Aaron Laferriere, Breanna and Michael Laferriere, Great-grandchildren, Cameron Watkins, Colin and Brooklyn Neufeld and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad also leaves to mourn his best friend Zena his dog, who will miss him terribly. Dad's greatest caregiver, our youngest brother Glen was able to help Dad spend his remaining time at home until the last possible moment. For this we are truly thankful! Dad was cremated and there will not be a service as per his wishes. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba in Dad's honor gratefully accepted. The family would like to thank the Dialysis ward staff at HSC as well as the St. Boniface Palliative care ward.
