Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (MAC) MCCORMICK On December 15, 2008 John (Mac) McCormick passed away at Grace Hospital with his wife Bobbie at his side. Mac was born in Winnipeg March 23, l917, the youngest son of John and Ellen McCormick. He spent his early life in St. Vital attending Norberry School and Glenlawn Collegiate. Mac joined MacDonald Bros. Aircraft before the Second World War. It was the beginning of a 50 year career in aerospace production that ended when Mac retired as senior vice president of Bristol Aerospace. In retirement he enjoyed serving as a member of the Manitoba Labour Board. Mac was enthusiastic about many hobbies and activities. From cycling to skiing, from winemaking to woodwork he loved them all. Best of all he loved golf. He started his golf caddying at Niakwa Golf Club and won the caddies' tournament in 1930. He was a founding member of Breezy Bend. For the past many years he has played at St. Charles, always with skill and good humour. How do you play with such painful arthritis? , a fellow golfer asked. I take a pill and shorten my backswing . It's good advice! Special thanks for their loyal friendship and help to Bill Gray and Dick Howard. Mac was predeceased by his brothers, Bob (Lillian) and Dick (Isabel) and by his sister Anne Calder (Rev. Alex). He is survived by his wife Bobbie, his seven nephews and their families; his brother-in-law Jack Wilkinson (Muriel) and Mrs. Maureen Wilkinson (late Glenn). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mac's memory to The Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. Cremation has taken place. A family service will be held at a later date. Chapel Lawn 885-9715

Mr. McCormick always had something nice to say to me every day when he passed me by. I was working for Gary Olson on the L10-11 Tristar assembling the air intake. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I am going to miss him very much. Somehow we all get by and try to remember the good times. I worked at Bristol Aerospace from March of 1973 to April 1981. It was an honor in knowing a good man. - Posted by: william germak (former worker at bristol aerospace) on: Sep 23, 2014
