MARY ELAINE (MARILYN) FITZGIBBONS (OSTRANDER) December 25, 1921 to December 7, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital. Mother was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Christmas Day and grew up in the Norwood area. She was an avid speed skater, golfer and curler. She was active as a Red Cross Volunteer and for the Canadian Cancer campaigns until age caused her to stop. She loved to play Whist, Cribbage and Poker. One of her greatest joys was the many friendships she gained through these activities. Predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Elizabeth (Betty) Ostrander (Hawley), her sister Margaret (Peggy) Cutler and an infant daughter. Survived by her daughter, Hawley Anderson (Dave), son James M.L. Fitzgibbons and grandson Davon Alder. Also survived by her sisters Diane Oliphant (Gary) in Hamilton, Joan (Bill) Johnson in Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. Fondly loved and remembered by many good friends. Their support during this difficult time is greatly appreciated. Heartfelt thanks to the staff on Six East at Lions Gate Hospital. No flowers by request. No service by request. A Memorial tea will be held on January 17, 2009 at: St. Andrews United Church 1044 St. Georges Avenue, North Vancouver at 1:00 p.m. Donations to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
