Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARLENE ETHEL SUTTON (nee HURLEY) The Love of My Life, Wife, Lover and Best Friend slipped away peacefully in the early morning of December 16, 2008 at Surrey Memorial Hospital at age 64. Arlene was born in Winnipeg in 1944. She was predeceased by her parents, Myrtle and Henry Hurley and infant sister Sandra Darlene. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Garth of 44 years; son Sean (Jodi) of Calgary; daughter Erinn of Indian Head and 10 grandchildren; brother Terry (Susan); nephew Daniel (Kim) and niece Colleen (Dean) of Winnipeg. Arlene was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Selkirk, Manitoba. She is remembered and cherished by all her family and friends and all who met her were touched by her gentleness, kindness, compassion and understanding. Arlene taught school in the Langley School Division for over 20 years, as well as Yellowknife, Winnipeg and Selkirk. Teaching was her third passion after her children and husband. She felt her greatest accomplishment was setting up a method for guided reading with a colleague. It was extremely successful and she and her colleague became leading proponents of guided reading in the province of BC. She was also active in Royal Heights United Church and found great comfort and friends within its community. A memorial service in her honour will be held at Royal Heights United Church, 9316 116 Street, Delta, BC on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Fraser Health Palliative Care Team for their wonderful support, care and kindness. If friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory.
