Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIVAN BICKELL Peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2008, Ivan Bickell went to be with the Lord. He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Lydia Bickell. Ivan leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Adair; daughters, Alison (Robert Charach, Brenda, David), Vivian (Howard Wilson, Naomi, Bethany); sister Marjorie Lewis and her sons, Rika (Bev), Don (Cathy), Paul and their children; brother-in-law Frank Gillis (Louise); sisters-in-law, Catherine Brown, Margaret Yaxley, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ivan was born in Winnipeg on July 30, 1930. He grew up in the north end of Winnipeg. Always a diligent provider, he began working at his first job at age nine. He held a variety of jobs throughout his teens. In his twenties he began working as a sales representative at Imperial Oil. Following that he worked as the sales manager for Gillis Quarries until his retirement in 1995. Ivan was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather. He was warm, generous and had a wonderful sense of humour. He thoroughly enjoyed his four grandchildren. An active member of Bethesda Church and man of prayer, he volunteered in many capacities such as elder, Sunday School teacher, bus driver, AWANA leader, doing visitation and most recently as English teacher for new Canadians. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with a reception immediately following. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Linden Christian School Bursary Fund, 877 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B8 or to a charity of their choice.
