ZENITH DAVID GLESBY May 31, 1942 December 16, 2008 Zen was born in Winnipeg and raised in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Once a curling champion, college football player, owner of 10,000 hubcaps, and a 65 Chevy Impala - Zen's life experiences were both diverse and exciting. Zen's professional career was varied from working in bowling alley and car dealership businesses in Portage la Prairie, freezer facilities in Winnipeg, to owning a successful real estate group in Victoria. Zen appreciated all that Victoria had to offer the weather, the golf and the awesome panoramic view from the front window of his home. Zen always showed strength in everything he did. Although this last year was especially difficult as family and friends watched his physical strength falter - his strength of character remained constant until the end. For all who knew him, he has left big footprints to fill he taught us how to live life with passion, how to give all that you can, and how to enjoy each moment with loved ones. He enriched the lives of all who had the opportunity to know him. Zen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Faye, daughter Franci (Dave Dyer) of Victoria; sons, Brent and family of Winnipeg, and Marc (Molly) and twin grandkids Chloe and Riley of Calgary. He is also survived by his sister Erla (Ron) of Winnipeg; brother Harley (Karen) of Vancouver; father-in-law Al Gorewich of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Shelley (David) Veats, Edmonton; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Fimi and Bill Glesby. The family wishes to thank all those who provided care, compassion, friendship, and Tim Horton's Ice Caps over the last year and extends a special appreciation to Dr. Phil Kelly and Heather Dyer. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Hatley Memorial Gardens, Victoria. Pallbearers and honourary pallbearers included Jerry Atnikov, Bill Buckwold, Heather Dyer, Ben Levinson, Richard Mark, Michael Mark, Jim Stirton, and David Veats. Donations made in Zen's memory to Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation would be greatly appreciated. www.victoriahospice.org Best remembered with a smile and 9-iron, Zen's philosophy of life was simple: What other people may find in poetry or art museums, I find in the flight of a good drive. ~ Arnold Palmer
