ABE LOEPPKY Our father, our mother's husband of 62 years, grandfather, friend and community member, Abe Loeppky, passed away quietly and peacefully at Carman Memorial Hospital, with his son Garth at his side, early Saturday morning, December 20, 2008. He was 85 years old. Abe is survived by wife, Kay, sons Garrett, Garth and Brian, grandchildren Tanya, Danny and Iaian, sister Catherine Oliver of London England and friends, many of whom he knew through his many years of active involvement with the Carman Legion and through his work as Secretary-Treasurer of the Town of Carman and with the Province of Manitoba, Department of Municipal Affairs. He was predeceased by sisters Edna Blatz and Annie Karlenzic and by brothers Norman and George Loeppky. Abe struggled with a variety of health issues over the past years and most recently spent the past six weeks with wonderful care from the medical staffs at both the Carman Memorial and Boundary Trails Hospitals. Many family members and friends visited him in hospital and his last days were marked by smiles of joy when he would awake to see Kay sitting at his bedside, holding his hand. Abe's dedication to his family, to his work before retirement and to the community of Carman was heartfelt, consistent and of high quality. Abe represented, and his life's activities demonstrated, high value on kindness, pragmatism, hard work and reasoned judgment. Our memories and lessons learned from Abe provide inspiration and resolve in the direction of living a good life. Abe leaves this world having added to our lives and the lives of many. We, his family, wish to extend deep appreciation to all friends and all medical and homecare staff for your support of Abe and all of us in recent times. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church, to be followed by a luncheon at the Carman Legion Women's Auxiliary Hall. Everyone is welcome. Donations may be made to the Carman Legion, Branch 18. Doyle's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. www.doyleschapels.com
