DESROCHERS April 10, 1920 - December 19, 2008 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Bertrand Desrochers on December 19, 2008, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 88 years. Bert leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 68 years Bertha (nee Fontaine); his children: Raymond (Pauline), Robert (Violet), Claire (Tony) Fraser; his grandchildren: Michael (Jacqueline), Richard (Riqui), Monique, Derrick, Colin (Shannon), Stephen, Eric (Roberta) and Amanda; his great-grandchildren: Austin, Connor, Tyler, Calum, Izabella, Jaymie, Rebecca. His loss will also be felt by his brother Marcien; sisters-in-law Lucy, Helen Fontaine and Emma (Leon) Lemoine and brother-in-law Victor Fontaine as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bert was born in Bruxelles, Manitoba and left the Mariapolis-Greenway area in 1936. He married Bertha Fontaine in 1940. Bert served in the Army during the Second World War. He worked for Bristol Aerospace for 45 years until his retirement in 1984. He was an active member of the Holy Family Parish and a member of the Archwood Knights of Columbus. Until 2001 Bert along with Bertha enjoyed their place at Wendigo for 40 plus years. He loved the outdoors, fishing in summer and until he was able, snowmobiling in winter. Family gatherings for special occasions were his favourite. Shortly before his death, Bert expressed his deep and abiding love for all his family. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald. A private family interment will be held at a later date in the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J.
