Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ROSE YOUNKA May 31, 1939 - December 19, 2008 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother. On December 19, Margaret passed away at the Victoria Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret is predeceased by her husband Walter, her parents, Victoria and Bernard, her sister Maureen, and her Aunt Rose. She will be forever cherished in the hearts of her children Lisa (Barry), Reina (David), Amanda (Bobby), and Gregory (Jean). Granny will be lovingly remembered by her treasured grandchildren, Brooklyn, Trysten, Niimin, Samuel, Jacob, Rose, and Ava. Margaret will also be held dearly in the memory of her brothers, Bernard and Roland (Betty), her Aunt Isabelle, her sister-in-laws, Constance, Patricia and Ginger, her cousins, nieces and nephews, her extended family in Perth-Andover, as well as many friends and her Lindsay Street neighbours. Margaret was born and raised in Port Arthur, Ontario where she fostered lifelong friendships with Deanna and Olga. After finishing at Port Arthur Collegiate she moved to Winnipeg to start a new life. Shortly thereafter, she met and married Walter. Margaret worked at the Abbott Clinic and then started her busy life raising her family. Margaret was always active in her children's schools and also enjoyed her work with children at both Queenston and Montrose Schools Lunch Programs. For the last 17 years she relished her role as Granny and her grandchildren reaped the benefits of their precious time with her. She enjoyed her garden, summers at Lester Beach with her family and traveling, always keeping in touch with family in both Thunder Bay and New Brunswick, particularly her cousin Dawn. Margaret was a faithful member of her Academy Uptown Bowling League for over 35 years and made many dear friends there. She also enjoyed a rousing game of scrabble and entering agricultural fairs with her long time friend Peggy. Margaret found much fulfillment in her participation in the community of Westworth United Church and her friendships in Unit 7. Mom lived a rich life to the fullest. Her generosity and loving nature endeared her to all who knew her. In God's loving care. Forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 7:00 p.m. at Thomson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held Tuesday, December 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave. We wish to express our gratitude for the care and compassion given by the ICU staff at the Victoria Hospital during Mom's short stay. Further, we extend appreciation to Rev. Clark Saunders and Rev. Eleanor Geib. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
