SUSANNE EVELYN ASTA COOKE (SUE) (nee HENDRY) Sue was born in Selkirk, MB on February 14, 1952 - OUR VALENTINE! After a long battle with Lupus since the age of 15, Sue passed away December 19, 2008 at the age of 56, following a long painful battle, but is now pain free and at peace in the hands of God. Sue was predeceased by her father Bill Hendry and brothers Billy and Mark. Left to mourn are her beloved family, loving mother Emily, adoring sisters Sharon (Lloyd) and Nena; brothers, Gordon (Donna), Ian (Allie), Kerry (Mary) and Collin. Sue has 10 nieces and nephews, two great-nephews and one great-niece. All will miss their Aunty Sue! Sue also is survived by Uncle Ian and Aunts Ida, Audrey and Sylvia and many cousins. Family was the most important part of Sue's life. She made sure she kept in touch with everyone by phone or email. Sue was a giving spirit, never forgot anyone's birthday and had a wonderful way of making you feel oh so important. Sue was a kind gentle soul with never ending generosity. She had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh! Sue was famous for her meat balls, homemade bread and Christmas chocolate. We will miss them this year! Sue was cherished and loved by all who knew her. She had many valued and dear friends, especially Leslie, Andrea, Clara and May and all her friends at River Gardens II. Sue's career as a legal secretary was cut short by her illness; nonetheless, by reason of her meticulous work and close attention to detail, Sue was highly respected and valued by the legal firms she worked for, even to the extent of them seeking her out to do work after she became ill. The family would like to thank the staff on the 5th floor of the Victoria hospital for treating Sue with such kindness. Special thanks to Dr. Cavers and Dr. Robertson and Nurse Carol in ICU. We would also like to thank Sue's cousin Dr. Burton Abbott for all his time and effort in helping the family understand her illness. We will all miss you so much Sue, life here on earth will never be the same! Till we meet again - we love you dearly! Cremation has taken place and service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St. Selkirk, MB on Saturday December 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Walter Reimer officiating. Flowers gratefully declined, if so desired donations may be made to Lupus Society of MB. Inc - 105-386 Broadway, R3C 3I9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
