CHESLEY LARRY SWAN (STANDING WHITE BEAR) Peacefully on December 19, 2008, at the Children's Hospital, in Winnipeg, MB, with family by his side, Chesley Larry Swan, aged 16 years, of Lake Manitoba First Nation. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Larry Swan and Audrey Swan; his step-father Eldon McLean; brothers, Darryl Swan (Marilyn Leggett), Sherman Kang (friend Amanda); sisters, Lisa (James) Chartrand, Sherri (Alfred) Sutherland, Norma Maytwayashing (friend Chance), Diana Guimond and Ashley Swan; brothers, Avery Swan, Ronald Swan and sister Julia Swan; Godparents, Christopher McLean and Bonnie Paul; along with numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. He is predeceased by grandparents, Harvey (Clara) Maytwayashing, Berba (Margaret) Swan; a sister Kristen Maytwayashing; uncles, Bradley Maytwayashing, Louis Swan, Raymond Swan, Ronnie Swan, Wilfred Swan and Alfred Swan; as well as, his auntie Doreen West. Our Chesley was a happy little boy and he loved to smile and laugh. He especially enjoyed listening to country and rock music along with visiting family and friends. He and his sister, Ashley would spend many hours laughing and joking together. Chesley loved to be at home just being with his family and, every once in a while, he liked having his mom, Audrey, take him on a walk around the townsite. Chesley graduated out of the Children's Rehab in Winnipeg at the age of six years. On his seventh birthday, he was able to travel to Disneyland with his family. Chesley also attended the Greenway School, in Winnipeg, and in 1999, he returned home to Lake Manitoba to be with his family. Chesley was a special little man who touched the hearts of many and who will be sadly missed by all who knew him and worked with him. Wake services will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Audrey Swan's residence on Lake Manitoba First Nation and will continue until a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2008, at the Lake Manitoba First Nation Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Lake Manitoba First Nation Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darryl Swan, Christopher McLean, Barry Swan Jr., Marvin Maytwayashing, Marvin Chippeway and Sherman Kang. Crossbearer will be Kyle Swan. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Children's Hospital, in Winnipeg, Children's Rehab, the St. Amant Centre and the CNIB. Special thanks to our friend Louella Shannacappo, the Chief and Council of Lake Manitoba First Nation, the Lake Manitoba Clinic, Child and Family Services, the cooking staff for the funeral lunch and to our many family and friends for your support. Also thanks to the Ebb and Flow Choir, the Black Bear singers, Pastor Bill Watson and John Gray, of Arnason Funeral Home. Our thoughts are with you as you now join your special friend Chance, who passed away in his ninth year. You are now together again to play in God's heavenly playground. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba, 83 Kirby Drive, Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0E7.
