Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET ANNE JULIA MACDONALD (nee PROBETTS) February 9, 1927 - December 25, 2008 It is with great sadness and many tears the honored family of Violet Anne MacDonald, announces the passing of our kind and dearly devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother on Christmas day after a courageous and painful two year battle against the horrific disease we all know as breast cancer. Peacefully at home with comfort and her devoted family by her side, Vi slipped away from our fingertips and tears to go to her devoted husband Jim whom also passed away on Christmas day 15 years ago. Vi fought bravely to beat this disease and had been given a clean bill of health on two occasions along the way. All the way through this horrible journey she held her head high without even hint of the horrible pain she had been going through, always with concern for everyone else around her. She was one in a million, her kindness overflowed, her gentleness was soothing, and her love was never ending. Vi was born in Winnipeg on February 9, 1927 and married her Navy sweetheart Jim on February 9, 1946. Vi spent her younger years on the weekends out at Lee River, where she was devoted to her husband Jim by his side building their cottage together. Many Christmases were spent out at the lake with her children, grand children, and many, many friends. Vi worked as a factory sewer for many years until starting her own business at home making perogies with a huge clientele and many sad customers when she decided to retire. Vi always had an open door and a table full of food and many friends and family who loved her dearly. Vi spent the last fifteen years visiting and caring for her mother Lena on a daily basis until her mother passed away at a hundred and one years old. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Sharon and husband Lloyd Buhay, her son Wayne and wife Jeannie MacDonald, her granddaughter Cheryl McFarlane (Emanuel), her grandson Curtis Buhay (Diane), Grandchildren: Michelle, Cindy, Clinton, Ryan, and Sonja, great-grandchildren: Tyler and Dylan Buhay, Caitlyn, Crystal, Kalee and Hailee. Vi is also survived by brothers Gordon Probetts and wife Verna, Stan Probetts and wife Nadia and many nieces and nephews. Vi was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Jim and her parents and her parents Bert and Lena Probetts. Active pallbearers will be grandson Curtis Buhay, grandson Emanuel Gomes, nephews Darren Probetts, Larry Plante, Shawn Granovsky and Bruce Brown. Funeral Service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Viewing will take place prior to the service. Cheryl would like to thank her incredibly strong and loving mother Sharon and father Lloyd, her wonderful strong and loving brother Curt and Diane, her special nephews Tyler and Dylan whom I am so very proud of and to my incredibly wonderful, compassionate, kind and gentle love Manny. Thank you all for supporting me and making our darling gran's stay at home full of love. I could have not done this without you all. Mom and Gran We love you and miss you You're in our hearts and Will always stay Our courageous and Gentle love of our lives Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
