EDWARD LAVERNE CHERWINSKI 1942 - 2008 On Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Health Sciences Center, Eddie peacefully passed into God's arms. Eddie was predeceased by wife Shirley on July 5, 2007, his father Joseph on November 15, 1975, his mother Pearl on December 18, 1981 and brother Raymond in 1992. Mourning him are: daughter Leanne and son-in-law Jason; daughter Jodi, son-in-law Mark, granddaughters Emily and Abby; son Edward and daughter-in-law Anne, siblings Tommy (Helen), Shirley (Eugene), Johnny (Doreen), Christie (Linda), Gloria Babe (Tom T ) as well many nieces and nephews. Eddie was born and raised in Wynyard, Saskatchewan. After completing his education in Wynyard, he ventured to Winnipeg where he met and married his wife Shirley. Ed held various jobs which included working at the DEW LINE in the Northwest Territories with brother Johnny, driving a cab, also working on construction with brothers Christie and Ray. He then established a career in the floor covering business for many years, eventually starting his own company. Eddie being the entrepreneur that he was, then ventured into a new profession realizing his life long dream of working in the financial industry as a stockbroker. Eddie had a love for sports and excelled in baseball, playing AAA Junior baseball in Winnipeg in the 1960s. He later went on to play fastball for the Voyageur Hawks where he met many life long friends. He attended every sporting event his children participated in (including practices, sometimes at the dismay of his kids) and was always so very proud of them. Eddie looked forward to traveling back to him hometown of Wynyard at least once a year to spend time with his life long buddies, Alfred and Gary, whose friendship he truly treasured. Eddie was a very kind hearted man who would give you anything he had as long as he had a dollar left in his pocket for a Lotto 6-49 ticket. Ed was a favorite patient of many at the Health Sciences Center, lovingly nicknamed as Fast Eddie. Special thanks to all the staff at the Health Sciences Centre on GD4 and GD5 for his special care, as he kept you on your toes and made you laugh. Memorial service to celebrate his life will take place on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. For his love of animals, any donations can be made to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter in lieu of flowers, 3062 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3K 0Y1. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
