MICHAEL BANIUK It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Baniuk announce his peaceful passing, while surrounded by his loved ones, in his 91st year, on December 23, 2008 at Concordia Place Care Home. He leaves to mourn his death, his loving wife Lucy (of 68 years), children, Richard (Aline), Gloria (Robert Beghin), Donald (Linda), Gladys (Marvin Kiel), Wayne (Judy). Grandchildren, Robbie (Natasha), Christine, Andre (Tracy), Keith (Brenda), Bernadette (Henry), Crystal, Jason (Jamie), and Cheryl, great-grandchildren, Austin, Chanel, Justine, Jack, Lucas, Kevin and Maegan. And many nieces and nephews. Michael is survived by Sister Anne Boyko and was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary, brothers, John, Bill, sisters, Sophie and Olivia (Royko) During his working career, Dad was a trucker, painter, carpenter and finally after 25 years of loyal service, retired from the T. Eaton Co. Contract Sales Dept. Dad loved his wife, family, and people in general. Being a Jack of all Trades , Dad was always willing to help family and friends with all their household projects. He enjoyed many sports but especially bowling at the Belgium Club. A big lover of Nature, Dad loved pets (especially Sandy and Rex). When younger while trimming a hedge to perfection, he could be heard whistling (something he was very good at) or seen puffing on one of his favourite La Palina Stoggies. Dad will be greatly missed by not only his family but anyone who really got to know him. Many thanks to the entire 3rd floor staff at Concordia Place for their many years of loving care and support. Prayers will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel 1800 Day St. , a private family service will follow on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 also at the Chapel with Father Owen Steeves presiding. Dad will be laid to rest at the Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
