DAVID KENNETH WOOD 1939 - 2008 David passed away peacefully in his sleep at Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care on December 24, 2008. He was born on the family farm north of Melita, Manitoba on September 19, 1939 and attended school in Melita. David married the love of his life and best friend Gail Rea of Deloraine in 1959 and they enjoyed 48 wonderful years together. David was particularly proud of his time spent working for Manitoba Hydro from 1959 until his retirement in 1994. His work with Manitoba Hydro took the family to many locations throughout the province where he and Gail developed numerous friendships that are still strong today. David was proud of the accomplishments of his family and was always interested in following the progress of his grandchildren. David is survived by his wife Gail, their son Kenneth (Shelley), sons Brett and Tyler; daughter Wanda McLean (Glen Sincennes), sons Richard and Robert; and daughter Tracy Brady (Douglas), daughters Kristen and Tamara. David is also survived by his mother Rachel, sisters Melba Snyder (Clark), and Diann Young (Trent), brothers-in-law Barry Rea (Barb), Ron Rea (Sandy), Gerry Teetaert (Leona), sisters-in-law Evelyn Ryan (Bob), Judy Astle (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his father Arthur Wood, grandparents Bert and Daisy Wood and Charles and Madeleine Desender, father and mother in-law Allan and Dorothy Rea, sister-in-law Lorna Teetaert, and grandson Michael McLean. David as well as the family would like to thank Dr. Hilderman, Dr. Maxwell and the nurses at the Victoria Hospital, the doctors and staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, and Dr. West and Dr. Schroeder of the Gamma Knife section at the Health Sciences Centre with a special thanks to nurse Janice. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Health Sciences Centre Foundation, or BTHC Foundation Palliative Care.
