Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATARYNA HNATYSZYN April 5, 1913 - December 26, 2008 The angels called Kataryna to join them on Friday, December 26, 2008. She passed away, peacefully, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 95, with her family at her side. Kataryna was born April 5, 1913 in Czerniewa, town of Mosciska, in Western Ukraine. She emigrated to Canada in 1930 with her widowed, 65 year old mother and six siblings, to find a better life for the family. She married Wasyl Hnatyszyn on November 14, 1931, in Winnipeg and they had a happy and beautiful life together, until his passing in 1983. Baba was an accomplished seamstress and designer. Her two daughters were fortunate to wear their mother's many beautiful creations, as children and young adults. She worked in several garment factories sewing samples and modelling them. She had a green thumb, her flower and vegetable gardens benefited the entire family. She was also handy with painting and decorating, having learned these skills from her friend and neighbour, Mr. Kalinsky, a professional painter. Predeceasing her were husband Wasyl; father Michael Kozyniak; mother Ksenia Kozyniak; brothers, Andrew, John and Sam; sisters, Anne, Maryna and Pearl; and son-in-law Edward Parfeniuk; and many nephews and nieces. Left to deeply mourn her passing are her daughters, Verna Parfeniuk and Nancy; grandsons, Darren (Kim) and Garth (Chris), who had a special bonding with their grandmother; as well as, two great-grandchildren, Casey and Jenna Parfeniuk. Our family gives special thanks to her doctor Dr. Nicole Mercier; Dr. Salem and the nurses and staff of the 3rd floor medicine and rehab at Seven Oaks General Hospital; as well as, the home care workers for their dedicated care to our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A private funeral service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home with Father Bohdan Lukie officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. To love a Mother and then to part, Is the greatest trial to the human heart, Years of striving, little of play, Loving, giving, the whole of the way, A cherished smile, a heart of gold, To the dearest Mother the world could hold. Happy memories, fond and true, From us who thought the world of you. Beautiful memories are treasured ever, Of happy days when we were together. With aching hearts we whisper low, God Bless you, Mother, we'll miss you so. Father in Heaven, hear our prayer, Guard our Mother with tender care. Be a good Shepherd, don't leave her alone, Love her as we love her When she was here at home. Forever in our memories VICHNAYA PAMYAT GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 338-7111
