Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS ARCHIBALD MADER It is with deep sadness that I announce the death of Douglas Archibald Mader on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 76 years. Remaining to forever cherish Douglas's memory are his beloved spouse Lois Romanica Mader; her daughter Paula (Rudy) and two grandchildren; as well as two brothers; Donald (Annemarie) of Winnipeg and Dale (Briar) of Calgary. He was predeceased by his parents, Werner and Annebell Mader. Douglas was born in North Battleford, SK. He was employed at Griffin Canada Inc. for 21 years until his retirement. Joining the Army in 1951, he served with the Regular Force which included service in a Theatre of Operations in Korea. Douglas was a member of Korea Veterans Association of Canada Unit #17. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies and loved the outdoors. My heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Deer Lodge Centre, especially on Tower 6 where Douglas spent the last 8 years. Douglas's funeral service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue at Sharp Boulevard, with The Rev. W. Gordon Shields presider. A reception will follow in the Main Floor Auditorium at the Deer Lodge Center, 2109 Portage Avenue. A private family interment will take place in the Field of Honour in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Douglas's name to The Diabetes Foundation of Manitoba, 200-310 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 0S6.
