Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD SCHULTZ It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Richard Schultz, aged 59 years, at his home in Beausejour on Sunday, December 28, 2008. Richard is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carol; their sons, Greg (friend Lisa) and Neal; his brother John and Celina; sisters, Clara Matchizen, Rose and John Gmitroski, Joan Modjeski, Steffie Gosselin, Pat and Richard Rattai; sister-in-law Sally Schultz; mother and father-in-law Elsie and Dan Draward; sister-in-law Gail and Ted Peluk; brothers-in-law, Randy and Autumn Draward and Dennis and Debbie Draward; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Richard retired on September 27, 2005 after being employed with AECL at Pinawa for 35 years as a steam fitter. He often spoke of his time with AECL and the many friends he made there. Richard was a quiet unassuming man who took immense pleasure in his retirement. He shared his talents and time with friends, family and community. He volunteered with the CPTC and delivered Christmas hampers. He was a talented handyman and often lent his skills to friends and family during their home projects. He loved to tinker with his old John Deere tractor and was restoring his dad's 1947 Mercury 1-ton truck. Richard loved all kinds of music and was an accomplished musician. In the late 60s and early 70s, he was part of a local band called the Gold Tones that played at weddings and socials. Richard could play many instruments but his favourite was the saxophone and often spoke of his regret of selling his old saxophone and replacing it with a new one. It just was never the same! Richard grew up on the family farm north of Beausejour as the youngest of 10 children. Richard went to the family farm every day either by truck or during the summer months by bicycle. He took great pride in maintaining the yard and kept the grass well manicured. The farm continued to be a gathering place during the summer months for his family with the occasional jam sessions with family and friends. He was a gentle and kind soul who was supportive of his sons. He was a proud hockey dad and the chief inspector when his son Greg was building his home. His love and attention will be missed. Richard was predeceased by his parents William and Josephine and his brother Joe and sisters, Katie Schultz and Adeline Marynewich. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue E., Beausejour, with Rev. Fr. Mark Drozniak presiding. Friends may view prior to the service. Cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Richard may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
