Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD JOSEPH MOORE Richard Joseph Moore of Chilliwack, BC died on Monday, December 29, 2008 at the age of 81 years. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Chilliwack, BC, with interment to take place at a later date in Glenboro, Manitoba. Richard was the youngest of six children born to Bob and Belle Moore. He was predeceased by his brothers, Albert, Orval, Lloyd and sisters Florence and Vivian. In 1946 Richard married Grace Helgason. Richard and Grace farmed near Glenboro until 1954 when they moved to Winnipeg. In 1962 Richard and Grace moved to Forrest Manitoba where he began his career as a Municipal Secretary. Richard worked at the R.M. of Elton from 1962 to 1967. In 1967 they moved to Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba where Richard worked for the R.M. from 1967 to 1979. In 1970 he completed the Municipal Administrator's course. While in Lac du Bonnet Richard was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 1968, and as a Magistrate in 1975. In 1980 they moved to the R.M. of Pembina in Manitou, Manitoba where Richard worked until his retirement in 1989, at which point he had served 27 years as a Municipal Administrator. In 2001 Richard and Grace moved to Chilliwack where they lived until Richard's death. Richard was a member of the Anglican or Lutheran Church, depending on where they lived. He served as Treasurer and sang in the church choir for many years. Richard is survived by Grace, his wife of 62 years; four children Mark (Maureen), Dwight (Marian), Gwenda Brouzes (Rick), and Derrick; 10 grandchildren, Jeannette (Ian), Shelley (Shabab), Michelle (Dirk) Vandepol, Melissa, Richard (Ev), Teresa Moore, Elise Moore, Erinn (Darrin), Julie Brouzes; and eight great-grandchildren; Coleman, Riley and Carson Vandepol, Harrison Smith, Hunter and Gracie, Zachary and Sierra Moore. Many thanks to all the family for their care and support, and to the many members of St. Thomas church for their concern and prayers. Thank you to the staff of the Chilliwack General Hospital for their excellent care of Richard and for their kindness to the entire family during his brief stay. Arrangements are entrusted to the Woodlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Thomas Church Fund or the Cancer Society.
