BARBARA A. MCCOMBS 1917 2008 Peacefully, on Monday, December 29, 2008, Barbara, passed away, at Victoria General Hospital, at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Arthur McCombs, in 1988. Together they enjoyed an exciting and interesting life, full of travel and adventure for 48 years. Barbara was the last survivor of seven siblings. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marge McCombs and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Barbara was blessed with a wonderful friend and guardian angel in Anna Fulcher-Johnston, who constantly checked on her and attended to her needs. LeAnn Nazer-Bloom, Kathryn Brandes, Karen Pfeifer, Barbara Patrick, Marrie Cooke and the Scarrow family, were also special to Barbara, as part of her extended family. Barbara had a fulfilling career with the T. Eaton Company for over 30 years, serving in numerous positions. She defined the exemplary level of customer service that Eaton's stores were renowned for. She enthusiastically volunteered for many years with the Red Cross and Victoria General Hospital. Barbara was an avid and a skilful card player and many pleasurable hours were spent with friends and family around the card table. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Lowden and the doctors, nurses and staff of ward 4N at Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion. In accordance with Barbara's wishes, cremation has taken place with no formal service. However, friends and family will gather informally to celebrate Barbara's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Volunteer Guild, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, R3T 2E8 or a charity of one's choice.
