MICHAEL TRIGG September 21, 1946 December 22, 2008 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Trigg, after a brief and courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme (Brain Cancer), at the age of 62 years. Mike is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Mikie (nee Grant); as well as, two sons, Chris (Bonnie) and Jeff. He is also survived by his sister Mary Lemmon (William); as well as, the Grant Clan , made up of a tremendous amount of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him dearly and were extremely helpful in his time of need. We wish to extend a heartfelt Thank-you to all concerned. Born in Hamburg, Germany, on September 21, 1946, Mike moved to England in 1947, and then emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1957. He left home at the age of 16 to join the Canadian Military, having a career with distinction and honour. Most of his military career was served by being a communications technician, however, he served a stint with the Canadian Airborne, amassing 31 jumps . He also had peacekeeping duties in Cyprus, Egypt, and Israel. Mike retired from the Military in 1983 at the 20 year mark. Mike then began his next career in Correctional Services of Canada in July of 1983 as a Corrections Officer in Stony Mountain Institution. He then continued to evolve within the correctional system, becoming a Hobby Officer at Rockwood Institution teaching woodworking and crafts, and finally a Programs Officer, helping inmates re-integrate back into society. Mike was not afraid of hard work, seemingly always having a second job. He has worked as a fast-food cook, PMQ cleaner, bartender, landlord, and having his own lawn-care business, all the while pursuing his career(s). He also found the time to go back to high-school to get his diploma at the age of 33, as well as, obtaining his Level III CAHA Coaching Certification, coaching Chris at the Bantam level and Jeff at the Pee-Wee level, where they won the Provincial A Championship. Woodworking was his favourite hobby, spending countless hours in the garage or hobby shop. He had a great love for the outdoors, spending much of his earlier years fishing and camping, his later years enjoying the cabin, especially, the pontoon boat! A man of uncompromising strength and courage, Mike finally gave in and went with the angels. It really opens your eyes to what is, may be and could have been. He lived with little or few regrets and unfaltering love for those around him. He lived a life of laughter, courage and values that followed him and stuck around when he left. He always left his mark. Mike taught so many people so many lessons without even really teaching them. He had a subtle way about him and he always left you thinking. We would like to thank Dr. Kaufmann, Dr. Schroeder, Dr. Kuegle, staff of the Health Sciences Centre and Concordia Hospital, as well as, CancerCare Manitoba for their devotion and time during Mike's illness. Your efforts allowed us to embrace Mike's presence that much longer. A celebration of Mike's life will take place on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 1:30 p.m., Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba. 843 Sherbrook Street 774 - 7474 Ample Parking Behind Funeral Home Condolences: www.bardal.ca

If this is the Mike Trigg that I knew, I would like to offer my belated condolences to Mikie. We were all friends and neighbours around 1965 in Fort Henry Heights in Kingston, Ontario. I joined the military from there and lost touch with everyone. Hope this message is going to the right person. I would love to hear from Mikie to get caught up. - Posted by: Dianne Spalding (Dianne Moran) (Old friend) on: Mar 19, 2012
