Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) FOUBISTER 1924 - 2008 It is with great sadness we announce that Jim passed away, peacefully, after a brief illness, on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the age of 84 years, with his daughter at his side. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his son Jim (Chris); daughter Jenni (Glen Edginton); grandchildren, Althea, Doug, Brad, Danny, Tamara, Jimmy, Jaden, Abby; and great-grandchildren, Boudicca, Kyla and Pilot. He will also be missed by his sister Jean Feltham; Joyce Birston (Peter); as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Doreen in 1978; and wife Ruth in 2004; and his daughter Mary Anne Hoover in 2007. Growing up on Maryland Street, Jim graduated from Gordon Bell High School. After which he joined the Navy and served in the Second World War. When he returned home he met and married Doreen. He pursued a career in sales and had a wonderful 29 years with Johnson and Johnson, retiring in 1984. A true sportsman, Jim competitively played many sports and enjoyed golf and curling well into his 70's. But his true passion was football. For over 60 years Jim played, coached or officiated, professional or amateur football. He was a Winnipeg Blue Bomber (1942 to 1949), a CFL official, a founding member of the Manitoba Football Officials Association and was inducted into the Winnipeg High School Football League Hall of Fame in 2008. Jim was the recipient of many awards and accolades for his tremendous contribution to the sport. Jim loved his cottage in Matlock and had 43 wonderful summers there. He made many wonderful lasting friendships in Matlock, many on the golf courses. He loved sharing this special place with family and friends and everyone was always welcome. Jim was a wonderful husband and a loving father and grandpa. He was a very special man and a loyal friend. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He will live in our hearts forever. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff of 3 West at the Concordia Hospital who cared for Jim in his six weeks there. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made to the charity of choice.
